NEW for 2019! MainStreet Roswell is working together with the Hispano Chamber of Commerce and the Eastern New Mexico State Fair to bring you a bigger and more awesome event! Join us September 27 & 28 for the Piñata & Chile Cheese Festival and stay for the Fair Sept 30-Oct 5!
Enjoy all the fun from BOTH festivals in one place with free parking and free entry, AND the carnival rides will be open (just pay for the rides you want to enjoy). Sunday will be a switch over day, and on Monday, the FULL Fair will open!
Friday and Saturday you can enjoy the wonderful aroma of fresh roasted chiles as it permeates the air? You can purchase all sorts of crafts, collectibles, fresh roasted chile and of course the beautiful red ristras from Graves Farm! Why not try making one of your own (we are planning ristra making 101). Get ready to meet some amazing exotic animals at the Runyan Ranch Rescue Zoo.
What would the festival be without cheese? Take a tour of Leprino Cheese Plant (be sure to follow the strict dress code). Leprino is the largest private employer in Chaves county and their facility is truly amazing. This is a rare opportunity to peek inside the fascinating process it takes to make their products, followed by a delicious taste (can you say pizza?!).
There will be lots of great live music and entertainment. Back by popular demand are The Flying J Wranglers from Ruidoso with Tylor Brandon opening Friday evening!
Enter our free Ice Cream Eating Contest! (thanks Albertson’s Market for sponsoring this). You can also try your luck at the taco eating contest, jalapeño eating contest, a dance contest, AND a song contest! Celebrate our local Southwest Dairy Farmers with fun kids cow crafts and dairy themed contests & drawings!
OPEN TO EVERYONE – enter the third annual “Best of the Southwest Green Chile Stew Competition” sponsored by The Roswell Daily Record. First prize is $300 and 3 XL bags green chiles, second prize is $150 and 2 XL bags green chile, third prize is $50 and 1 XL bag green chiles! (thanks Graves Farm for sponsoring the green chile prizes!). Entry form and more details will be posted closer to the event.
