pARTy After Hours: Lunar Landing Late Night

April 12, 2019 @ 12:00 am

The 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing will be celebrated Friday, April 12, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Roswell Museum and Art Center. The public is invited to enjoy free exclusive evening access to the museum and a mix of moon-inspired activities at this afterhours event for ages 21 and older.Drop in for a show in the Goddard Planetarium with Planetarium Coordinator Jeremy Howe or a gallery talk on rocket pioneer Robert Goddard from resident expert Bill Siders, try your hand at Space Bingo with volunteerextraordinaire Nancy Fleming, Cosmic Needlepoint with Curator of Education Amanda Nicholson, moon gazing with the Roswell Astronomy Club and more.
The event will feature a cash bar with award-winning craft beer maker Red Door Brewery of Albuquerque. Local eatery Eli’s Bistro & Bakery will be serving up some sweet treats and pizza (because the moon is round and made of cheese, of course). Music will complement the evening with a blend of 1960s and space tunes in the courtyard to remember the era when the Apollo 11 astronauts took man’s first steps on the moon July 20, 1969.
Limited space is available in the moon-themed Kids Zone for children ages 2-12, designed to free up parents to enjoy the event. Pre-registration is required for the Kids Zone and there is $10 fee per child. Contact Tiffany at (575) 500-0363 to register or for more information.
pARTy After Hours is generously supported by the RMAC Foundation. pARTy is a series of free events for adults that aims to expand access to the museum and present art and sciences as an integral part of everyone’s lives.
